A logistics network design model with vendor managed inventory

چکیده
In this paper, we study a logistics network design problem with vendor managed inventory in which the company is in charge of managing inventory for its downstream warehouses and retailers, and can choose whether to satisfy each retailer’s demand. The problem incorporates the location, transportation, pricing, and warehouse-retailer echelon inventory replenishment decisions. Traditionally, these decisions are made separately. We formulate the problem as a set-packing model and solve it using branch-and-price. The pricing problem that arises from each iteration of the column generation procedure is an interesting nonlinear IP problem. We show the pricing problem can be solved in Oðn2 log nÞ time for each warehouse, where n is the number of retailers. The computational results shed insights on the benefits that the integrated approach can achieve significant profit improvement. The computational results also highlight the efficiency of the solution algorithm. & 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

A parameter-tuned genetic algorithm for vendor managed inventory model for a case single-vendor single-retailer with multi-product and multi-constraint
This paper develops a single-vendor single-retailer supply chain for multi-product. The proposed model is based on Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) approach and vendor uses the retailer's data for better decision making. Number of orders and available capital are the constraints of the model. In this system, shortages are backordered; therefore, the vendor’s warehouse capacity is another limitati...

This paper studies the economic-order-quantity model (EOQ) for deteriorating items in two cases (with and without shortages) to evaluate how vendor managed inventory (VMI) affects supply chain. We consider two-level supply chain (single supplier and a single retailer) with one instantaneous deteriorating item. A numerical example and sensitivity analysis are provided to illustrate the effect of...
متن کاملAn Inventory Model for Deteriorating Items Using Vendor-Managed Inventory Policy
In recent researches, vendor managed inventory (VMI) policy is rarely considered for deteriorating items. This study considered the supply chain partner’s collaboration via a VMI system and provided an EOQ model for a two-level supply chain (single supplier - single retailer) to examine the inventory management proceedings for VMI and non-VMI supply chains. By a new approach in modeling, the ...
متن کاملEPQ model with scrap and backordering under Vendor managed inventory policy
This paper presents the economic production quantity (EPQ) models for the imperfect quality items produced with/without the presence of shortage condition. The models are presented in a two-level supply chain composed of a single manufacturer and a single buyer to investigate the performance of vendormanaged inventory (VMI) policy. The total costs are minimized to obtain the optimal production ...
متن کاملVendor Managed Inventory of a Single-vendor Multiple-retailer Single-warehouse Supply Chain under Stochastic Demands
In this study, a vendor-managed inventory model is developed for a single-vendor multiple-retailer single-warehouse (SV-MR-SV) supply chain problem based on the economic order quantity in which demands are stochastic and follow a uniform probability distribution. In order to reduce holding costs and to help balanced on-hand inventory cost between the vendor and the retailers, it is assumed that...
